How much does painting cost in Munich?

Painting walls and ceilings costs from €10.12 per m² of surface with us, including paint and VAT. The exact price depends on the condition of the walls, the number of coats and the colour you choose.

It costs more if cracks and holes need filling, old wallpaper needs removing or dark walls need several coats. After the on-site visit you receive a detailed quote with every item listed separately, as a fixed price after measurement.

How much does it cost to have an apartment painted?

It depends on the wall and ceiling area, not the floor area. As a rule of thumb, the area to be painted is about 3.5 times the floor area.

An example: a 100 m² apartment has around 350 m² of wall and ceiling area. At the base price of €10.12 per m², that comes to about €3,540 including paint and VAT. The price only becomes binding after measurement, as windows, doors, sloping ceilings and the condition of the walls change the area and the effort.

Do painters charge by the hour or by the square metre?

We charge by the square metre, not by the hour. So you know in advance what the work costs, regardless of how long it takes.

Our price per m² includes labour and paint. Additional work such as filling or removing wallpaper appears as separate items in the quote.

How long does it take to have an apartment painted?

We usually paint an apartment in one day. For larger areas, extensive preparation or filling work, we plan more time accordingly.

You receive the exact date and duration with the quote.

Can you stay in the apartment while it is being painted?

Yes. You can stay in the apartment during the painting work. We cover furniture and floors and work room by room.

After painting we remove the covers and tidy up, so you can use the rooms again as soon as the paint is dry.

Which paints do we use?

We work with brand paints from Sto and Caparol. The paint is already included in the price per m².

You choose the colour, and we are happy to advise which colour suits the room, the light and the surface.

What do the quality levels Q1 to Q4 mean for filling?

The quality levels describe how smoothly a wall is filled before painting. The higher the level, the smoother the surface, and the less you see under grazing light.

The levels are defined in Information Sheet No. 2 of the German plasterboard industry association (Industriegruppe Gipsplatten). Which level your walls need, we discuss on site. We fill new drywall walls straight to the level you want.

Do you also do wallpapering?

Yes. We hang wallpaper, for example woodchip or non-woven wallpaper, and remove old wallpaper on request.

What it costs depends on the wallpaper, the surface and the area. It appears as a separate item in the quote.

How does a painting job work?

First inspect and measure, then prepare, paint and inspect together. We agree the date with you beforehand.

1. On-site visit & measurement - we look at the rooms and the surfaces.
2. Detailed quote - every item listed separately, fixed price after measurement.
3. Covering - furniture, floors, windows and sockets are protected.
4. Preparation - closing cracks and holes, filling, priming.
5. Painting or wallpapering - with paints from Sto and Caparol.
6. Tidying up & inspection - we go through the rooms together with you.
