How much does a new electrical installation in an apartment cost?

It depends on the scope: how many rooms, how many sockets and circuits, whether cables are laid new in the walls and whether the fuse box is renewed as well. That is why we only give a reliable price after the on-site visit.

Our quote lists every item separately, every cable, every box, every component in the distribution board. You see exactly what you are paying for and can leave out or add items. You receive the binding price as a fixed price after measurement.

How do you know the electrics in an old building need renewing?

Typical signs are old screw-in fuses, no residual current device (RCD) and too few sockets, so there are multi-plugs everywhere. Anyone buying or renovating an older apartment should have the electrics checked before moving in.

Whether a partial renewal is enough or everything needs replacing, we see during the on-site visit. We measure and tell you openly what is necessary and what is not.

What does a complete rewiring include?

New cables in all rooms, new switches and sockets, a new distribution board with circuit breakers and RCDs and, if you wish, new lighting. At the end we test and measure the entire installation and hand it over with documentation.

Because we also do drywall and painting ourselves, we close channels and walls straight afterwards, so you do not need another tradesperson. More on drywall and painting.

How does a rewiring project work?

First inspect and plan, then lay cables, then install the distribution board, switches and lights, and finally measure and hand over. You receive the exact schedule with the quote.

1. On-site visit - we check the existing installation and discuss your wishes.
2. Planning & detailed quote - circuits, sockets, lighting; every item listed separately.
3. Strip-out & cables - old cables out, new cables and boxes in.
4. Distribution board - new fuse box with circuit breakers and RCDs.
5. Switches, sockets & lighting - installation of all end devices.
6. Closing the walls - drywall, filling, painting.
7. Measurement & handover - testing of the installation, handover with documentation.

When does the meter cabinet need to be renewed?

At the latest when something new needs to be connected, such as a heat pump, a photovoltaic system or a wallbox, and there is no room for it in the old meter cabinet. Older meter cabinets often no longer meet today’s connection rules.

Trade press describes the meter cabinet in old buildings as a typical bottleneck for heat pumps and PV: older models often lack space for additional meter positions, surge protection and reserve according to VDE-AR-N 4100.
